Classic Glass Fusing

Join us for this 6-week course at CMA! Throughout this class, learn different techniques to design, cut, and assemble glass and how to use the kiln to fuse and slump your own original designs or ideas supplied by the instructor. Explore glass plates, bowls, and jewelry throughout this session. Time will be allotted to work during class, offering one-on-one attention with instructor help and feedback. All skill levels are welcome. Taken the class before? We work with each student to see them grow, so sign up for multiple classes!

Raku

Offering this 2-day workshop at CMA with instructor CJ Ritenour! Discover the unique art of Raku firing in this hands-on workshop! Unlike traditional kiln firing, Raku is a distinctive technique performed outdoors using a gas kiln including pulling red hot ceramic ware out of a kiln and placing the ware into a container with combustible materials. During this two-step workshop, students will discuss the process and create their clay pieces on day one and then fire on day two. Students may make and fire up to 3 pieces. Some clay experience is required.

Offering this NEW one-time workshop at CMA! Welcome fall with a beautiful ceramic envelope vase that you’ve made yourself. We will use simple hand-building techniques, including texturing and folding, to make these decorative and functional vessels. No experience is needed; all levels are welcome. Students will need to make arrangements to pick up fired pieces three to six weeks after the workshop and will be emailed when ready.

*Cost includes all art supplies including firing and glazing of your pieces.

Fused Glass Jewelry Pendants

Offering this one-time workshop at CMA! Discover the beauty of glass fusing and create your own one-of-a-kind fused glass jewelry pendant(s) in this exciting workshop. Our experienced instructor, Amy Pepperney, will guide you through the fundamentals of glass fusing and various forming techniques to help you create a truly unique piece(s) perfect for gifting or wearing with pride! Each student will receive a variety of glass and silver wire to work with, allowing you to create one large pendant or two medium-sized pendants. All skill levels are welcome.

Advanced Ceramics 6:30pm Tuesdays (Fall) (Prerequisite: 4 or more CMA Ceramics Classes or Instructor Approval)

Offering this 10 week class in our ceramics studios! This class is available for advanced students that have taken at least four ceramics classes at CMA or have received instructor approval to take the class. Form, surface design, glazing, and firing will be explored in greater depth during this class. Advanced students who have taken five or more CMA ceramics classes or working at a level determined to be advanced by the instructor will be required to do their own firing in cooperation with the Canton Ceramic Artists Guild to deepen their understanding of the process.

Stained Glass Sunflower
