This class introduces students to ceramic hand-building through coiling and slab techniques. By combining these skills, students will construct forms ranging from boxes to sculpture over the course of the class. They will also explore surface treatments and glazing methods that enhance and complement their work. All materials provided; all skill levels welcome. Ages 16+; 10 seats available.

Visual literacy begins with a love for pictures and storytelling. This series combines the best picture book artists, storytelling in the Museum’s galleries, and art-making in the studio into one, fun adventure. Learn about color mixing, shape-changing, and a range of emotions…and don’t forget to bring your favorite stuffy friend to accompany you on your adventure! All materials provided.

Transform everyday flat materials like paper, glue, string, and tape into remarkable works of art! This class will teach students techniques for creating exciting 2D pictures and designs from these basic items. Master this fundamental "superpower" of 2D creation, and students will establish a strong foundation for moving on to 3D sculpture later. All skill levels welcome; all materials provided. In this exciting sculpture class, Miss Lindsey will encourage students to transform ordinary materials into extraordinary works of art! Students will explore various construction techniques, working independently and with the group on building projects. Students will develop creative problem-solving skills as they learn to assemble and reimagine found objects in unexpected and amazing ways. All skill levels welcome; all materials provided. Students will refine their skills in this 8-week intensive, small-group ceramics course. With the support of demonstrations and constructive feedback from the instructor, students will focus on building stronger throwing skills while creating functional ware like cups, bowls and mugs. Students will also focus on surface design and glaze application. This class is a precursor to a more advanced wheel throwing class; pre-existing wheel knowledge is a requirement for registration. Ages 18+; 6 seats available.

Students will develop ingenuity and persistence through playing with clay, learning that it's okay when things get messy! They will explore techniques such as squishing clay, forming pinch pots, building with long coils, and rolling out flat slabs. Miss Haylee will guide students through the stages of clay, encouraging imagination and confidence along the way. All skill levels welcome; all materials provided. Ages 6-10; 10 seats available.

This gentle program is perfect for you and your little ones. Children will explore colors, textures, light, and sound to expand their senses, all while having some playful fun. It's also a great chance for both you and your young artist to socialize, and work through emotions. Strollers, carriers, and diaper bags welcome. Dress for unexpected paint splatters! Visual Journaling: in this relaxing workshop students combine expressive words and art to record emotions, insights, and important events in a personal journal to be used as a treasured record of one’s life journey. An assortment of mixed media art materials will be provided as well as guided imagery to awaken memories and generate ideas. No drawing or painting experience is required.
