Alpha Romeo Tango (A.R.T.) Program 10-Week Ceramics Class

Class Time:  6:00pm-8:00pm

Class Description: This innovative ceramics art program offers an empowering outlet specifically for veterans. Through hands-on instruction in various pottery techniques, participants can explore their creativity, find solace in the tactile nature of clay, and connect with fellow veterans in a supportive community. The program aims to foster well-being, encourage self-expression, and provide a unique avenue for processing experiences and building new skills.

Master the pottery wheel in this 10-week immersive ceramics course. Learn fundamental hand-building techniques before transitioning to the wheel for the fabrication and construction of functional pottery items like bowls, cups, mugs, and vases. This class focuses on practical application and creative expression for everyday use.

Additional costs, not included with class cost:

*All CMA ceramics students are required to purchase their clay from CMA; $54.00 includes 25 pounds of clay and includes the cost of glazes and firing.

*Students are capped at 50 lbs. of clay per session. As an educational ceramics studio maintained by our Canton Ceramics Artists Guild volunteers who fire students' work, we are unable to accommodate production potters.

*Students may also purchase a clay tool kit ($15.00) from CMA.

*Both clay and tool kits are available for purchase on the first day of class and throughout the session as needed.

Alpha Romeo Tango (A.R.T.) Program 12-Week Guitar Class

Class Time:  3:00pm-4:00pm

Class Description: This twelve-week, classroom-style course is designed for Veterans and First Responders to experience various styles of acoustic guitar music. Led by musician Denny Vlahos, the class covers the basics of blues, jazz, folk, and/or Spanish guitar. Sculpt your own emotional support animal from clay! In this hands-on ceramic workshop, students will design and sculpt a unique creature—whether it’s a beloved pet, a fantastical hybrid, or an entirely original animal companion. Participants will explore traditional hand-building techniques and learn the basics of glazing to bring their creations to life. After your comfort creature is created and fired, it can go home with you! All skill levels are welcome, all materials provided.

This engaging art class focuses on sensory exploration, enhancing fine motor skills, and fostering social connections. Students will learn to express emotions and stories through color, developing artistic talent and…explore how artists "talk" with color. Imagine painting flowers with your fingertips using vibrant yellows and oranges, or creating a serene landscape with soothing blue and green ink washes. This process sparks artistic self-expression and creative connection with others.
