Advanced ceramics students are now eligible for independent study at CMA! This option is available for a limited number of students that have taken at least three ceramics classes at CMA. Your registration fee provides access to the studio during all open studio hours, a locker for storage, access to studio tools and equipment, and a professional teaching artist mentor available to get you set up and answer any questions you may have through email.

Individual projects will include functional pottery and decorative work. This class is available for advanced students that have taken at least four ceramics classes at CMA or have received instructor approval to take the class. Form, surface design, glazing, and firing will be explored in greater depth during this class. Advanced students who have taken five or more CMA ceramics classes or working at a level determined to be advanced by the instructor will be required to do their own firing in cooperation with the Canton Ceramic Artists Guild to deepen their understanding of the process.

Offering this NEW one-time workshop at CMA! Spring is on its way and now is a great time to make a flower brick vase. This enclosed form has multiple openings in the top to place individual stems. It is the perfect small vase to beautifully display the seasons flowers. You may embellish your vase with textures and additional eye-catching features to make it uniquely your own. Offering this NEW two day workshop at CMA! This workshop is designed for students who have had at least some wheel throwing experience. If you feel confident in centering and creating a basic vessel on the wheel then this class is for you! Whether you're a seasoned ceramic artist or relatively new, instructor CJ Ritenour will guide you through the entire wheel throwing process to shape your perfect mug ready to cradle your favorite beverages.
