In this special parent-child class, you are active partners in your child’s creative journey as they explore drawing, painting, and sculpture together. Discover the joy of art in this fun, 3-week workshop series perfect for young art enthusiasts! Bring your favorite playlist and headphones—music is a powerful way to set the rhythm for your creative flow and help your unique vision come to life—and join us as we explore the colorful stories and curious styles of three Ohio artists from the CMA collection: Paul Spina, whose clever illusions challenge how we see reality; Ernie Barnes, who captured the soulful rhythm of everyday movement; and Alice Schille, who brought luminous life to her scenes through delicate watercolor. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll learn new painting and design skills to create your very own versions of each masterpiece. All materials are included, and beginners are welcome! Parents and caregivers are invited to register and create alongside their children, tweens and teens for a shared family experience. All materials provided. For budding artists, ages 10+

Toddler-to-Preschool Art in Motion with Haylee Wagner | 10–10:45a | 3-Part Series on Tuesdays: September 15, 22, 29

Inspired by the Canton Museum of Art’s exhibition The Art of Movement, this session invites toddlers and caregivers to explore creativity through motion and multisensory play. Little ones will experiment with pigskin printmaking (rolling miniature footballs over painted turf), rolling and smashing clay, and fingerpaint freeze dancing. This playful exploration encourages self-expression while building fine motor skills. Strollers, carriers, and diaper bags are welcome, and all materials provided. Please dress for messy fun! Elevate + Create: Early Learning Through Family Art & Connection – Led by Amanda Crowe | 10–11a | October 1

Join CMA and the Early Childhood Resource Center for the first in a series of FREE ART CLASSES led by the Canton Museum of Art! Designed specifically for families with children ages 3 and under (siblings welcome!). This collaborative initiative will meet on the first Thursday of each month to provide early learning art experiences that help develop arts-based core learning skills. Experiences include songs, storytime, gentle gallery strolls, play and more, with support and resources available to caregivers through the ECRC. Ages birth-age 3 with an adult caregiver (siblings welcome!)

Come play with light and glass in this super-fun workshop! Inspired by the vibrant and energetic art of Ernie Barnes, we’ll use colorful glass shapes to create our own hanging suncatchers. Whether you want to design a silhouetted athlete or a graceful dancer, you’ll learn the magic of arranging glass to be fired into a beautiful keepsake. It's safe, hands-on, and a blast for budding artists—no glass cutting required, just creativity! Safety goggles and materials provided. Ages 8+ (parents/caregivers welcome to attend but not required)

Combine art and science to create something epic! Resin art is an amazing liquid medium that cures into a durable, glass-like finish with slow-but-certain satisfaction. Experiment with fluid materials and enjoy the process of letting art happen naturally to create a rewarding, personalized piece. In this “lab” like experience, you will learn how to embed graphic images and your favorite found objects between layers of resin. You will also explore textured molds and use heat to activate color play. All materials provided; all skill levels welcome. Ages 12+
