Urban Gravity Painting

Now offering this NEW one-time workshop in-person! Inspired by the architectural cities in the exhibit "Continued Continuing: Paintings by Amy Casey." If you're a fan of Minecraft, you already understand the concept of No Gravity ghost blocks and if you're into Fortnite, you get the seriousness of designing a sturdy structure, but this type of building strategy involves floating ink, buildings suspended in time, and miniature architectural materials (did someone say End Stone bricks?). This non-traditional paint-and-build class focuses on experimenting with the process of ink flow to create a backdrop for an imaginary city and its secret inhabitants.

Learn techniques for transforming polymer clay into your own miniature collection of these adorable cube-shaped animals. Instructions will be sent home on how to bake in the oven to harden.

Now offering this NEW Art Play Date in-person! Parents, come join your little artists in multisensory art making activities for both of you to enjoy together. Learn to interact creatively with your little one while helping your child get started in the world of art by painting with scented pigments, interacting with a variety of materials, and stacking animals from large to small. Our sensory play dates are developed to stimulate your toddler's sense of touch, smell, sight, hearing, and balance while encouraging creativity and exploration in a safe environment. Ok-to-get-messy attire suggested; aprons provided.

Now offering this NEW one-time workshop in-person! This special workshop is designed for one adult and one child (ages 6-9) to do together! If worn-out toys could talk, they would tell some terrific stories. Learn about the imaginative still life paintings of artist Robert Coleman Jackson on display in our galleries and bring toys to life by placing them in arranged settings that are usually designed for people doing people-related activities. Start creating a legacy together by setting aside time for art-making-in-the-moment.

Now offering this NEW one-time workshop in-person! Inspired by the animal sculptures in the exhibit "Thinking with Animals." Enjoy a trip to see the imaginative artwork on display in the galleries and create your own animal sculpture that is kinetic, which means relating to or resulting from motion. Get creative and experiment working with a variety of upcycled materials to create a moving sculpture that also doubles as a puppet!
