Create an ornament to cherish year after year in this introductory metalsmithing workshop. Artist Alexander Draven will walk you through simple sawing, stamping and the coloring of copper all in this one night workshop. No experience needed, all levels welcome.

Inspired by CMA's current exhibit Crowns: Crossing into Motherhood where the artwork focuses on exploring varying maternal experiences. Create a felted figure that is an ornament sized needle felted fairy, angel, or mother. Using special needles and wool roving even beginners can create a fabulous felted creation. No experience necessary!

The Canton Museum of Art has a new Raku Kiln courtesy of the Canton Ceramics Artists Guild! Learn the fundamentals of Raku firing which is a different firing technique than that of a regular kiln. This process is done outdoors, using a gas kiln. This exciting firing technique involves pulling red hot ceramic ware out of a kiln and placing the ware into a container with combustible materials. During this two-step workshop, students will discuss the process and create their clay pieces on day one and then fire on day two. Students may make and fire up to 3 works.
Create your own fun and functional ceramic mug while learning about the fantastic flavors of coffee and all it has to offer! A professional barista from Canton's own Carpe Diem Coffee Shop will guide you through a taste testing of different coffees. While sipping on your favorite flavors learn how to make a personalized drinking mug of your very own using stoneware clay and basic hand building techniques. All levels of experience are welcome. (Students will need to make arrangements to pick up fired pieces two weeks after workshop.)
Relax and enjoy friends, wine and fun while creating a personal abstract masterpiece! Now introducing a brand new workshop at CMA creating fluid art using acrylic paint pouring techniques. There is nothing more satisfying than watching the paint spill across the surface. Choose your own colors and enjoy the endless creative and spontaneous possibilities as the paint interacts to produce different effects. Our artist will guide you step-by-step through the process all while you enjoy wine, music and a great time!
