Offering this NEW Art Play Date at CMA! Parents, come join your little artists in multisensory art-making activities for both of you to enjoy together. Fiber artist Margene May represented the friends and family she cared about by creating their portraits from layers of collaged fabric. She also used clay to sculpt their unique faces. This workshop combines both fabric and Plasticine clay to encourage tots to work through the process of understanding the texture and form of familiar facial features as they play with non-traditional artist's tools to roll, flatten, and combine two very different mediums. This tactile art play date encourages fine motor skills and learning how to look closer for texture and pattern - with a portrait of the one you love to carry home! Ok-to-get-messy attire is suggested; aprons provided.
