The CMA offers Artists Studio Classes with courses available in a wide range of media, scheduled for weekdays and weekends throughout the day and evening, there's a class to fit every schedule, budget, and interest! Courses are available for adults plus children and teens, (including a Summer Art Camp).
*Teens ages 14 and older are also welcome to enroll in any of our Classes for Adults and Teens.

Love comic books? Want to try your hand at creating your own comic book illustrations? Taking inspiration from the Museum's exhibit "Dream Worlds: The Art of Imaginative Realism", students will explore the fantastical characters created by famous comic book illustrators from around the world and learn to create original characters that tell a story in a setting of their own design. Students will build illustration skills while using their imaginations in a relaxing, creative environment.

Do you have a mind for inventing? Do you like to help people? Join us for this workshop where, finding inspiration from the Museum’s exhibit "Three Voices: Conversations on Life & Conflict", students will design & create an invention made specifically to help somebody in their life or in our community. Using paper, found objects, and a lot of imagination, students will build the most helpful contraptions of all time!

Halloween Mask Making (Grades 1-4)

Have a Spooktackular time exploring fun techniques for creating 3D masks using paper folding and collage techniques. Adults are encouraged to stay to assist in helping their student create the perfect mask just in time for our Free First Friday Art Harvest and Trick or Treating Event on 10/7/16 from 5-8.

Slimy, Ooey, Gooey (Grades 1-4)

Superhero Self Portraits (Grades 5-8)

Shazaam! Bam! Kaboom! If you were a superhero, what would be your super power? What do you think needs some super saving? Taking inspiration from the Museum's exhibit "Dreamworlds: The Art of Imaginative Realism", students will re-create themselves as superheroes in large self-portrait paintings. Design all aspects of your super alter-ego, including your costume, catchphrase, and even a sidekick to help you along the way!

Fanciful Fantasy Creatures (Grades 1-4)

Inspired by the works by Gina Matarazoo, in the Dream Worlds: The Art of Imaginative Realism exhibit on display in the galleries, students will explore illustration and how to tell stories through pictures. In the style of Matarazoo, students will create fantasy stories that they will tell through whimsical creature illustrations.

Miniature Fantasy Lands (Grades 5-8)

Art and Science Collide! Join us for this unique opportunity to combine your critical thinking skills with your artistic prowess. In this exciting new eco-friendly workshop, students will explore the properties of art-making materials while learning about some alternative energy sources. Using everyday materials, students will design and build sculptural boats and harness the power of wind to help them sail, culminating in the chance to race their creations across the open seas of the classroom.

Chimeras: Mythical Clay Creatures (Grades 5-8)

If you were any kind of animal, what would you be? Is it hard to choose just one? Taking inspiration from the Museum's Gary Spinosa exhibit "Avatars: Relics from the Future", students will reveal their favorite self-character traits in the form of their very own chimera; using imagination, creativity, and clay sculpting techniques to create mixed-up mythical creatures based on their own personalities. Students will leave with a truly unique, one-o f-a-kind piece of self-reflective artwork.

CLASS & WORKSHOP POLICIES
ENROLLMENT Each class must meet a minimum enrollment requirement. If the minimum enrollment requirement is not met, class will be canceled. Registrants will be notified of cancellation 48 hours before the scheduled starting date and receive a full refund.
