As featured artist Dean Mitchell once said, “I have always considered my art to reflect the journey of my life; each painting revealing a personal perception of the things, places and people who have touched my life.” Artists such as Mitchell were focused on capturing the everyday people around him, and the activities he saw them do daily.  "Quincy Factory Worker," the watercolor by Dean Mitchell displayed in this exhibit, portrays a man named Rags who worked at the Barnes Ice Plant Company, a plant that has since been shut down.

Each piece of art in "Everyday People" features the artist's idea of what traits make up everyday life and the everyday person, and how daily life can be translated onto a canvas. Throughout this exhibit, we will ask ourselves - what is daily life like for other people? What was everyday life like in the past and what would life have been like without the common objects that we use today? The daily lives of ordinary men and women are constantly changing,  but they are the everyday people - often overlooked yet extraordinary in what they accomplish.
