Come enjoy wine, music and your Valentine’s date while creating a personal masterpiece!  Have fun playing with paint with your date for this special Jackson Pollock inspired paint pouring event. Jackson Pollock was a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. He was well known for his unique style of painting with his canvases laid out on the studio floor, and he developed what was later called his "drip" technique. Each person receives a 16” x 20” canvas.  Register as a couple and receive an extra panel to paint together!  Panels look gorgeous displayed together or apart.

This painting is one of Marc's earliest major works depicting animals and the more important of his series of portraits of horses in various colors. It is often thought that Marc thought animals to be more pure and more beautiful than man. It is thought that the curved lines used to depict the subject are to emphasize a sense of harmony, peace, and balance. Franz Marc’s is most well-known for his German Expressionist paintings of animals. For Marc, animals were the ideal subject for purity, truth and beauty. He portrayed the world as seen through the eyes of animals. To this day, Marc Franz is considered to be one of the most influential painters to come out of Germany, for his unique style and approach he took in his work.

Our artist will make painting easy and fun by instructing you step-by-step through re-creating a painting inspired by the artwork Young Moe by Paul Klee in 1938. This painting represents not only Klee’s love of music, but also his fascination with unusual materials. Created with colored paste applied to newspaper on burlap, the work pays homage to Albert “Moe” Moeschinger, professor of music theory at the conservatory of Bern from 1937 to 1943, who had dedicated three compositions to Klee in 1935. In this abstract composition, swirling black lines flow on top of shifting fields of color, implying a sense of rhythm and melody.

Also known as South Wind, Clear Sky or Red Fuji, it is a wood block print which is part of his Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series. The work has been described as "one of the simplest and at the same time one of the most outstanding of all Japanese prints.

American Flamingo is one of the 435 hand-colored engravings that make up John James Audubon’s monumental Birds of America, issued in four volumes between 1826 and 1838. The publication includes life-size representations of nearly five hundred species of North American birds. When his pictures were first published, some naturalists objected to Audubon’s use of dramatic action and pictorial design, but these are the qualities that set his work apart and make it not only an invaluable record of early American wildlife but an unmatched work of American art. William was one of the most important painting instructors of his generation, teaching at the Art Students’ League of New York and later at his own Chase School of Art. Chase was an early proponent of plein air painting. His loose brushwork and bold use of color were very influential in turn-of-the-century America. Among his many outstanding pupils was Georgia O’Keefe. Chase was concerned with finding the beautiful in the beautiful. He did a number of famous paintings of the of the seashore on Long Island. It is often claimed that this was his very last work. The menacing sky, the crows and the dead-end path are said to refer to the end of his life approaching. But that is just a persistent myth. Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter and theoretician who is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He is known for being one of the pioneers of 20th century abstract art, as he changed his artistic direction from figurative painting to an increasingly abstract style, until he reached a point where his artistic vocabulary was reduced to simple geometric element. Deceptively simple, utilizing minimal black lines and balanced blocks of color became his signature style. Join us for this unique lesson as we use tape and brushes to create this geometric painting in any color combinations you like! In the late 1940s, Henri Matisse turned almost exclusively to cut paper and scissors introducing a radically new technique that came to be called a cut-out. Matisse would cut painted sheets of paper into forms of varying shapes and sizes which he then arranged into beautiful compositions. Join us as we explore composition, color and color mixing while experimenting with creating the perfect color combination that will look good to hang on any wall! Q. What is a CMA Uncorked event like?

A. In a fun, relaxed, social group setting, an artist will guide you step-by-step through replicating the night's featured painting. Whether you are an aspiring artist or just looking to explore your creative side, you are sure to go home with a painting that is uniquely yours. Events are about 2 hours with breaks.

 

Q. What time do I need to arrive for a class?

A. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to sign in, grab a glass of wine and pick the seat of your choice.

 

Q. What is included in the price?

A. We provide all the materials you need to have a great time including; Wine, Refreshments, Artist, Canvas, Paint, Brushes, Easels, and Aprons.

 

Q. Can we bring food and beverages?

A. You are welcome to bring you own food; no additional alcoholic drinks are permitted.

 

Q. What should I wear?

A. Aprons are provided, but we recommend wearing something you wouldn't mind getting paint on.

 

Q. Is there an age limit?

A. You must be at least 21 years old to attend.

 

Q. Do I need to sign up in advance?

A. Yes. You can register on the website or call the museum to secure a seat. If a class is sold out, please sign up to by put on our waiting list through the ticket registration page.

 

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. CMA Uncorked is an entertainment event similar to a concert. We do allow cancellations or reschedules but we require a 48 hour notice. Cancellations should be made by phone. This provides us the opportunity to fill the space. We will charge the class fee for reservations not cancelled 48 hours in advance. Public classes are subject to cancellation without a minimum of 10 attendees. Cancellations will be notified via email.

 

Q. I am an artist, are you hiring?

A. CMA is always looking for talented artists. Please email your resume and attach at least five examples of completed painted works.

 

Private Events:

Q. What events are available?

A. Private events, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, and even team building events. We can help you celebrate anything! You'll make memories that you and your friends are sure to talk about for years to come! Plus, everyone will take home their masterpiece to remember the special occasion.

 

Q. How much does a private event cost?

A.There is no additional charge. We charge the same amount per person as our public events at $28  per person.

 

Q. Attendees may register and pay online 48 hours before event (we will create a private online registration page)

A. Or, event organizer provides number of attendees 48 hours before event, balance is due the day of the event.

 

Q. How many people do I need for a Private Event?

A. We require a 15 person minimum charge for a private event. This does not mean you must have 15 people attend. You will be charged for a minimum of 15 people even if you only have 6 people in your party. We can accommodate up to 40 for a private event.
