Beginning/Intermediate Drawing

6 Sundays, 1:30 – 3:30 pm, Room 102

Beginning artists (and artists of all skill levels) are invited to come and enjoy the creative processes of drawing.  In this exciting, hands-on class students will view demonstrations, learn how to use a variety of techniques and work with a teacher who will tailor instruction to your needs and interests.

Intermediate/Advanced Drawing

This class is for those who have some experience in drawing.  Perspective, color, composition, and a focus on individual instruction will be included.  Students will create drawings in several media and techniques, as well as traditional pencil, charcoal, etc.

Intro to Character Design

Inspired by the Dream Worlds: The Art of Imaginative Realism exhibit on display in the galleries, students will be introduced to character design in fields such as (but not limited to) comics, cartoons and video games. We will discuss how forms help build the physical and personality traits of a character. We will also explore how to use inspiration from nearly any media or real life experiences to help create a well-crafted character.

Intro to Cartooning and Comic Basics

Inspired by the Dream Worlds: The Art of Imaginative Realism exhibit on display in the galleries, students will be introduced to basic cartooning, from early newspaper strips to web comics. They will examine the essential qualities that make comic strips, and how they can use these traditions and ideas to create their own world through cartooning.  Taking Into to Character Design too?  Bring your finished work and continue developing your character into a comic!
