Canton Museum National Art Show

The first annual Canton Museum National Art Show will be a juried, indoor show of the highest quality fine art and fine craft. The show will feature 80 artists, with an emphasis on quality, professionalism and variety. It is our vision to develop “The Canton Museum National Art Show” into the premier fine art event in this area.


Where:
The show will be held in the Cultural Center for the Arts, which houses the Canton Museum of Art, in downtown Canton. The building adjoins the Canton Civic Center and is minutes from I-77.

When:
May 21 – Preview event from 6 to 9 PM. Setup days will be May 20 and 21.
May 22 – 10 AM to 6 PM
May 23 – 10 AM to 5 PM

Display Space Fees:
A standard space will accommodate a 10’x10’ display at a fee of $350. Upon request, a 10’x15’ at $525, and a 5’x20’ at $350 will be available. s and room for approximately eighty artists. All spaces will be provided with electricity; storage will be very minimal at the booth area, but there will be secured areas provided for common storage. Application Information:  -- Hurry...applications close after January 15

Applicants must submit five professional quality images of their work and one image of their booth display. Images may be submitted electronically, on disk or as 35mm slides. In the allotted space on the entry form give a brief description of each image, pertaining to construction, actual materials used, method, etc… Please number images to correspond with the descriptions on the application form. Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the jury’s decision. If you would like your disk or slides returned, include adequate postage and envelope. Do not attach or staple any material to your entry card. Write your category on the front of your application envelope. Exhibitors will be permitted to exhibit only the specific type of work submitted to the jury of selection. If entering more than one category, submit separate applications, envelopes and images for each category. Jewelry, for example, cannot be exhibited with another medium without being screened and accepted by the jury of selection.

A screening/application fee of $25(US) is required and must be submitted along with the properly completed and signed application form and images. A $15 fee is required for each additional category entered. A maximum of 80 artists will be selected to exhibit. Entrants selected to be listed as “Standby” are chosen as needed by the Director to fill any available open space in the show. Standby exhibitors are selected by medium to keep a proper balance to the show.

Requirements:
100% of all displayed work must be created by the entrant. Reproductions must be signed and numbered, cannot make up more than 20% of the display, must be matted or framed, labeled and displayed in portfolio type bins, and cannot be hung on the display walls. Unacceptable items are: imported work of any type, work created by a person other than the exhibiting artist, greenware pottery, sculpture from molds, handicrafts, mass produced factory art and jewelry, as well as any other items deemed by the committee to not fall within the spirit of our requirements. Each exhibitor must be present the entire length of the show and is responsible for the sale of his/her work. No agents are permitted. Prices must be clearly displayed on all items. There is no commission charged by the organizer on sales.

Entries:
Entries should be postmarked no later than January 15, 2010. Results of the jury process will be mailed no later than February 1, 2010.
