Acrylic Portraiture

Learn to paint living portraits!  Join local painter Kit Palencar as he guides you through capturing the personality of your subject from the beginning sketch to finishing touches.  Some painting experience is suggested but not required.
* Students should bring at least two or three photos to choose from that include a neutral background and a good/strong sense of lighting to show value and form. Images should be printed out on 8.5x11 standard printer paper.  Also bring a black and white copy to examine value and shape.

* Bring a packed dinner and we will take a break during the workshop

Join award-winning artist and instructor Jerry Zelinskas in the Museum galleries as he guides you through drawing the human figure in action.    Gain inspiration from the exhibit Scrimmage, immersed in works from master artists who have expertly captured high-impact action scenes.  Receive one-on-one instruction and critique, helping to improve your drawing skills.  Some drawing experience is suggested but not required.

What a Relief: Intro to Relief Printing

Explore one of the oldest forms of printmaking and how it can be used in contemporary practice to produce powerful and striking images.  Learn linoleum block cutting, inking and printing techniques, in addition to how to properly sign and addition multiple prints.  All skill levels welcome.

Live Figure Drawing: Scrimmage Edition

Live model drawing is back at the Museum for this special one-day workshop, inspired by the exhibition Scrimmage.  Join artist and instructor Jerry Zelinskas as he guides you through a live model drawing session of a uniformed football player, receiving one-on-one instruction and critiques to help improve your drawing skills.  Wooden drawing horses available.  All skill levels welcome.
