FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  March 20, 2013, Canton, Ohio — The Canton Museum of Art, supported by Kent State University Stark and Walsh University, presents the annual Stark County High School Art Exhibition, March 26 through April 7, 2013, featured in the Museum’s lower galleries.  Admission is FREE.

The Stark County High School Art Exhibition provides an exciting opportunity for aspiring artists to have their work exhibited in a professional museum setting. The exhibit features original two- and three-dimensional works by students from 18 Stark County area high schools.  All pieces presented are original works created as part of their school curriculums and chosen by the school’s art instructor.  Each school is limited to a total of ten entries with no more than two entries per artist.  Student works are judged on the basis of both originality and technical ability.

Canton Museum of Art Curator Lynnda Arrasmith said, “This one of our largest exhibitions of this show, including 164 works representing all range of styles.  I would also consider it to be one of our highest quality high school exhibitions.  There’s lots of great talent in the galleries to enjoy.”

An awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at a reception scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Awards will be presented at 6:00pm.  All are welcome to attend.  College scholarship awards for the First, Second and Third Place are $1,000, $600 and $400.  Honorable mention awards will be presented, with each winner receiving a scholarship for classes at the Canton Museum of Art.
