A-500 Nuno Felted Scarf - 1 Day Workshop

Make a beautiful scarf for yourself while learning the art of nuno felting! “Nuno” (the Japanese word for fabric) is a lamination technique where wool is bonded to a lightweight fabric. The technique allows for you to play with transparency and texture, producing luxurious results. In this workshop you will create a scarf by felting soft merino fibers onto a fine silk gauze base. (All materials included in packet). No prior experience is needed – ages 13 and up. Feel free to bring a sack lunch.

A-510 Creating Silk "Paper" - One Day Workshop

Learn the art of making silk “paper”! Students in this workshop will create a type of paper by fusing silk fibers together. The resulting paper-like fabric is a perfect medium for projects such as scrap-booking, sewing, embroidery, collage, journaling and Valentines. Materials packet includes colored silk, textile medium, and netting. No prior experience is needed – ages 13 and up.

A-520 Discover Shibori - 1 Day Workshop

Shibori is the traditional Japanese art of tying, folding, or pleating fabric, then dying it to produce a unique color and texture on the fabric. Shibori offers a surprising array of binding methods for a “resist”. We will explore some of these techniques, including wrapping, stitching, clamping, binding, folding, twisting and turning the fabric around a resist. Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to produce a series of experimental samples exploring a variety of ways to manipulate the fabric, dye it, and heat-set it. Students will then have the opportunity to create a silk scarf using the technique of their choice.

A-530 Needle Felted “Fiberge” Eggs – 1 Day Workshop

Make your own “Fiberge” eggs out of wool just in time for Easter! Using needle felting, the class will create three-dimensional eggs out of wool roving and the no-miss, no-fuss needle felting technique. Learn how to create your eggs using felting needles to “mold” the wool.. No prior experience in needed – ages 13 and up.
