Canton Artists League 2011 Exhibit

March 20 - April 23, 2011



Now in its fourteenth year, with a current membership of 76 artists from Stark and surrounding counties, the Canton Artists League (CAL) is an affiliate of the Canton Museum of Art and a forum for members to meet and further their creativity through a wide variety of community exhibition venues and workshops. Forty seven members submitted work for this juried exhibit of  88 two and three 3 dimensional pieces. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Jurors for the CAL exhibition were Thompson and Fran Lehnert of Kent, Ohio.  Thompson works in acrylic and is retired Professor Emeritus from Kent State University. Fran is a pastel artist who recently took “Best in Show” at the Butler Institute of American Art’s 73rd “Area Artist Annual” in January. The Lehnerts also served as jurors for the Boston Mills Artfest in July 2010. Awards were presented by CAL president, Cynthia Capestrain at the opening reception on Sunday, March 27, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
