EXHIBITION: 2015 Stark County High School Art Exhibition

March 28 - April 12, 2015


The Canton Museum of Art, supported by Malone University, Kent State University Stark, Mary Schiller Myers School of Art at The University of Akron, and Walsh University, presented awards for the 24th Annual Stark County High School Art Exhibition on Tuesday, April 7, during a reception held for students and families at the Museum. The exhibition closed on April 12.   

Three college scholarship awards were presented:

  • $1,000 First Place—Jordan Hillton: “Jimbo,” Colored Pencil, GlenOak High School
  • $600 Second Place—Clare Kreuzwieser: “Wisdom Teeth,” Oil Paint, Hoover High School
  • $400 Third Place—Jennifer Dutt: “Never Free,” Warercolor / Acrylic, GlenOak High School

Ten honorable mention awards were presented, with each winner receiving a scholarship for classes at the Canton Museum of Art:

  • John Bowen: “Luminary,” Clay—GlenOak High School
  • Samantha Brag: “Dreams,” Printing Ink—Perry High School
  • Ashley Casterline: “Date Night,” Colored Pencil—Perry High School
  • Ellie Chaddock: “Sitting Susan,” Photography—Minerva High School
  • Kate Hatcher: “Cold as Ice,” Charcoal—Jackson High School
  • Madeline Lacourt: “Noah the Steam Punk Elf,” Acrylic—Perry High School
  • Rachel Myers: “Life Unplugged,” Acrylic— Hoover High School
  • Madison Pollard: “Jack Downs,” Colored Pencil, Pencil—Northwest High School
  • Armani Sharpe: “Untitled,” Digital Image—GlenOak High School
  • Miranda Smith: “Where There is Smoke, There is Fire,” Digital Photograph—Canton South
    High School

The Stark County High School Art Exhibition provides a platform for aspiring artists to have their work exhibited in a museum setting. All pieces presented were original works created as part of their school curriculums and chosen by the school’s art instructor.

The Canton Museum of Art thanks the generous support of Malone University, Kent State University Stark, Mary Schiller Myers School of Art at The University of Akron and Walsh University for this exhibition.  Malone University had gallery displays during the run of the exhibit, as well as representatives at the awards reception, providing information on their academic programs and admission.
